The building stock accounts for around 40 percent of the EU’s total final energy use, of which two thirds are consumed in the residential sector. Therefore, buildings offer the largest single potential for energy efficiency. The EU has responded to this fact with various initiatives and regulations.
The BEENetwork aims to illustrate the EU goals and activities in the field of energy efficient buildings. In this section you will be informed on relevant EU initiatives, programmes and projects related to the issue. Furthermore, relevant legislation will be depicted as well as publications dealing with energy efficiency in the European building stock.
